Chaupehra Paath
Below are the Bani's recited in order during the Chaupehra Sahib paath.
Japji Sahib (x 5)
The first sacred Bani in Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is named Japji Sahib. It is a well-known and succinct synopsis of Sikh philosophy, composed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, the first Sikh spiritual guru and the founder of Sikhism.
Benthi Chaupai Sahib (x 2)
Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the tenth Sikh Guru, wrote the Bani Benti Chaupai Sahib. The work is included in the Dasam Granth Sahib Ji, the Sikhs' second-most significant Granth. The Charitropakhyan portion is followed by the Bani. Charitars draw attention to the bad energy that exists on the planet. The tenth master wrote the section that contains this specific Bani after completing the Charitars. It is comparable to making a 'request' or 'sincere plea' to God for protection.
Sukhmani Sahib (x 1)
Translated loosely, 'sukh' denotes comfort or tranquilly, and 'mani' implies mind or heart. The fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj, wrote the extensive Sukhmani Sahib in 35 Angs, (Angs 262 to 296 of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj). The English translation of the word Sukhmani is "consoler of the mind," which describes the calming influence it exerts on the mind during recitation.
Anand Sahib (x 1)
The third Sikh Guru, Guru Amar Das Ji Maharaj, wrote the Anand Sahib Bani. In Angs 917 to 922 of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, the Bani makes an appearance. It is stated that one will attain Anand (complete happiness or bliss) in life if they recite this Holy Bani on a daily basis with devotion, focus, and comprehension.
Ardas
Ardas is a way to purge the mind of its vices and cravings and replace them with lofty ideals and virtuous thoughts. The Ardas demands a heart-searching, striving for greater nobility and purity. To allow calm to enter the mind, all worldly thoughts must be banished. The Ardas calls for total submission to the will of God. In the end, the person will gain by submitting to God's Will. Those who put their faith in the mercy of the Lord will never fail. Furthermore, the ego is destroyed by this submission, removing the barrier that separates Us from the Creator.
